For UK artist John Payne, painting portraits, whether they are of people or of animals is nothing short of an ideal vocation in life.   Born in Essex in 1973, indeed a very British painter, John grew up with a passion for art and later developed a profound talent for portraits.

Much of Johns work goes abroad.

 

How do I commission my portrait?

You will of course, want to discuss your pet or family portrait first but here is what you need to know.  To commission your unique portrait in oils, e-mail John, attaching a photo the pet or person(s) you would like the portrait of. If you haven't got a digital picture, you can send the photo in the post, which will be returned with your portrait. You should decide whether your portrait will be a head study or a full body drawing. If you are not sure, we can discuss this.

 

How long will it take?

I will of course, try to begin painting your portrait as soon as I receive your commission.  However you should be aware that you can't rush a portrait in oils. Read a little more about this on the prices page.  I do try and make anniversary and birthday presents a priority, but do allow plenty of time to avoid disappointment especially at Christmas .

 

Do I really not have to pay if I don't like it?

Yes it's as simple as that although it has to be said that I have never had anyone not be thrilled with their  portrait.  BUT if you happen to be the first, then yes it's true, you don't pay!
